Our coordinator on housing: “A good home is the start of good work”

What happens before a new employee arrives, and how do we keep the houses in order?

Our housing coordinator arranges accommodation for new and current workers every day. “As soon as someone signs up and we know which grower they will work for, we look for a room nearby. Before arrival the worker already knows which house they will live in, with whom, and what time the van leaves in the morning.”

All Agroflex houses are SNF certified. That means fixed standards for space, privacy, safety and hygiene, and periodic inspections by an independent body. “We also walk through the houses ourselves every week. That way we quickly see if something is broken or if the cleaning rota is not being followed.”

The house rules exist to keep living together pleasant: quiet between ten in the evening and seven in the morning, cleaning together and no overnight guests without consulting us. “Almost everyone understands that right away. It is about coming home to a calm, clean house after a long working day.”

If there is a problem, the coordinator can be reached by phone or WhatsApp. “A broken washing machine or a leaking tap is fixed the same day. A good home is the start of good work, and we take that seriously.”
